Mathematics of Planet Earth
Overview
"Mathematics of Planet Earth" (MPE) is an international project in which interactive exhibits are created in compe- titions. Interested parties are invited to submit their de- signs that clearly illustrate the importance of mathemat- ics for solving global problems. In addition to IMAGINARY, Unesco, the International Mathematical Union and the In- ternational Commission on Mathematical Instruction are organizers and partners of the competition. This station shows a selection of the best interactive applications.

Discover how the spread of ash clouds can be predicted during volcanic eruptions, how the development of glaciers can be calculated, how mathematics can be used to stabilize our power grids and why there can be no perfect maps.
